If your hard drive is seen in the BIOS as 137GB and you are installing Windows 2000 with Service Pack 3 or greater, Windows XP with Service Pack 1 or greater, or Windows Vista, you shouldn't need to set the hard drive size, as the current versions of those operating systems should bypass any BIOS limitations on the driveĭo not try to resize a drive that has data on it. Because of this, the Set Capacity feature will not work on any SATA hard drive. After that BIOS auto detect says that Seagate is a 500 GB hard disk. After I pinpointed the empty one, I removed it. I had to disconnect them one by one, because I couldn’t know which one was the empty one. Then I removed one of the Samsung drives.
Everything seemed to work without problems. Seagate’s temperature remained lower than the temperature of the Samsung drives (about 42 C). I moved files from one of the Samsung drive (about 500 GB) to the Seagate’s larger partition. I Initialized the hard disk in disk management, made one 500 GB partition and other one from the rest of the disk. BIOS recognized Seagate as a 1500 GB hard drive (if i remember correctly).
